PUPPY SALES CONTRACT
I would like to thank all of the wonderful people who purchase a puppy from responsible breeders, as this allows those who breed collies, to improve the health and vigor, as well as to keep and improve the physical traits that make up a collie. Without the families who adopt the collie puppies that result in our quest for the 'perfect show collie', many breeders would be severely limited in the number of litters they would be comfortable having. This type of give and take, allows the responsible breeder to improve his bloodline, while at the same time, allows dogs of excellent quality and beauty available as pets for those of us who love this unique dog.
The contract is for the benefit and well being of the puppy, the buyer and the breeder. ALL companion puppies not intended for showing or breeding, are required to be altered - either nuetered or spayed by SEVEN months old. Dogs purchased as show prospects or for breeding stock are not required to be altered. If you are purchasing an AKC puppy with the thought of 'making your money back' by breeding, then I ask that you go elsewhere. I am very interested in people who want a dog to love, to show or breed with the knowledge required to produce a better collie. Breeding dogs is a costly enterprise if neccessary fees are paid for stud fees, medical & health tests, eye checks, vaccinations, parasite checks, medications and other veterinary services, dog show entries, hotel and travel costs, as well are the cost of feeding, conditioning, show supplies, crates, grooming and cleaning supplies, as well as housing costs. Also the cost of your time - at home, the vets, training classes, to and from dog shows, feeding, conditioning, etc. Breeding dogs takes many years to discover the direction you are heading. There is a lot of learning about bloodlines, genetics, health issues, proper care for a top show dog, learning to groom properly to win in the showring, how to condition your dog to be his best as he stands before the judge, time that must be devoted to training your dog before your ever get near the showring.. The list is endless, as is the learning. There are many wonderful people involved in the dog show world. Showing dogs is fun, but a great deal of time and effort must be devoted to the dog itself before you ever get near the judge, if you want to present a winning picture in the ring. Then, there is you.....learning techniques that help you present yourself and your dog at your best, against stiff competition, and as a team. (Some of our dogs show better for my daughter, therefore she shows them, and some show better for me.)
Since each situation is different, each contract will be written up indiviually.
