Canine Health
I call this page 'Canine Health' since canines (& humans, too) are affected by some of these diseases and disorders, some breeds more so than others. Collies may be affected by some of these disorders, but many Collies have none of them.

The genetics of the canine are a tricky proposition, but we are learning more all the time. Geneticists are making big strides in the field of DNA research and giving today's breeder the tools of the future to use now. There are tests available now for: Collie Eye Anomaly Drug Sensitivity (MDR1) Grey Collie Syndrome Thyroid Cardiac Hips & Elbows Coat Color Tests that are nearing completion, but more samples are needed to allow researchers to develop these are: Progressive Retinal Atrophy Epilepsy that I know of, and more I am sure.
The links with red stars may be found more in Collies, though most Collies will not have them. The other diseases are here for the information that they provide as all dogs may be affected by them. Many breeders are working hard to eliminate all the disorders they can.
